Looks ok, I don't mind it. I really don't care that much about looks more than functionality. I want something more like Outlook. On an exchange server Outlook does wonders. Email, calender, and contacts all unified in one program that offers great communication with the universal address book on the server.

Apple sues on 'look and feel', whereas Samsung sues on core technological patents. I always assume it'd be the other way around...

No-one wins here either way, its just crap for us consumers.

As long as the 'finding new music' feature is better than the iTunes Mini store, which is down right bad. Bad. I think it's great.

Black-on-white crime, much more prevalent than the reverse, is one of those open secrets the media doesn't like to report on, usually since they're too busy accusing whites of racism.

The media always reports on black on white crime, so much so, that they are often accused of over-reporting and fueling white people's fear of the big bad black man!

One of my main reasons for getting the MB vs. keeping my iBook was Parallels.

I develop for several platforms, so this was 'made in heaven' if i worked.

Well, after a month of testing and developing I can say that Parallels has been an unqualified success.

Currently I'm running Ubuntu, Solaris 10 (Dtrace, zones and ZFS rules, but that is another debate), and Win2k. Apart from an issue getting the screen resolution right in Sun's Java Desktop, I have had no problems whatsoever.

Since I'm not doing any 3D work, graphics acceleration isn't an issue for me.

It's the best 70-odd dollars I've ever spent.

Oh yeah, to the guy with stability issues..... I have no idea what you've been doing to your machine, but I haven't yet had a kernel panic of any kind (nor a BSOD in Parallels), so I don't recognize the situation at all. And, believe me, when you rape a system the way I do, running a long compile in the background while at the same time converting a video (just to see the stress handling capabilities - I wouldn't do that normally, compiles take too long :)), you get a good feel for the stability of the system. This baby is rock solid.

For the record: MB CD 2GB 120GBHD

the fact is nobody knows the facts ... it could have been a Man trying to disguise himself as a Woman to gain access to the Woman's washroom.

maybe he was not a transgender and was a threat to young girls in the bathroom.

I don't think anybody has all the facts ... he was hardly beaten to the point where this thread is labeled "almost killed"

I agree with the few others that are concerned about this.

Our Mac OS innocence is coming to an end. Part of this is due to the growing market share, and popularity in the Operating system. The other issue I feel that is of concern, is the new challenge this OS provides for Script kiddies, and bored coders. If you have an ego, and want to get your name out, why not do what hasn't been done before, as opposed to doing what everyone else does ?

This is going to be a growing trend, and the amount of Mac Haters in the wild is quite high! Once code tricks and secrets start to get out, it is only a matter of time before OS X is targeted by thousands, much like XP!

Apple has time to take this very seriously, and work to keep this system tight and secure! Hopefully this is going to be a big part of the focus on Leopard, but only developers will really know this!

    These current headlines aside

    1. Pay attention to what warning messages pop up when browsing the web.

    2. Only download and install software from sources that you trust, and if you do trust them, take an extra moment to think about why you trust them, and if you really need to install that piece of 3rd party software!

    3. Keep your firewalls on if possible

    4. Don't permanently unlock preferences, folders, or other security areas on your system using your keychain, unless you really need to do so!

There are others, however that is a good baseline to follow for some minimal security checks and balances!

I don't think it will have virtualization, especially with the way they are supporting Parallels solution itself. I think a dual-boot or a fast OS switching type of solution is much more likely. Somebody around here was suggesting "sleeping" one OS and starting another. That's almost good enough. Afterall Apple does not want you to use Windows, it only wants you to believe you could run Windows if you had to, in order to ease switcher anxiety.

I've been planning a project like this (I finally got it on sourceforge, in fact) - The idea is to make the virtualization system able to hibernate any given OS (or freeze state it) in such a way that it can be restored as the host OS (and vice versa), so that you can give any of your OSes running (virtual or host), the host priorities while all the others become virtual.

OTOH, that could be laggy, and may be subject to limitations within EFI, only time will tell. <- shameless self promotion XD

On topic: I got this today. It was either this or 8GB o RAM. I went with the cheaper option.

Duh, I can't believe some of the comments there...

    Probably iAds?
No, it has to be a) a device (it's a app requirement list!) and b) something that runs iOS 3.0+.

Could it be the Mac App Store?
    See above.

    apps for macs………..
WTF? What's that? Anyway, see above.

As for guesses for iPhone 5, no, that one's already covered by the "iPhone and iOS 3.0 or later" in that list. Same for iPod Touch, and iPad revisions.

My only guess right now is Apple TV.

Edit: Some here speculate in an iOS + OS X merge, and I guess that *could* happen. That could be compatible with iOS 3.0 and fit that list. Perhaps it's the biggest surprise Apple is holding back for OS X Lion. I still think a new revision of Apple TV is more likely though, since it already runs iOS.
